Projects

Before, after and the part in between.

Anybody can post a nice photo. Here’s what was wrong, what we did about it and how long it took.

Every project starts the same way

Somebody got tired of stepping around something. Then they called.

A rebuilt backyard deck with new railings, finished in the afternoon light

Larkin Hill · Deck rebuild

The deck nobody wanted to stand on.

The problem

Soft boards in the middle, a bounce at the stairs and a railing you could rock with one hand. The owners had stopped letting the grandkids out there.

What we did

Pulled every board. Sistered six joists. Set new footings below the frost line. Laid new decking and rebuilt the rail to code.

Last we heard, the grandkids had claimed it for the summer.

Elm Street · Porch and steps

The porch that leaned toward the street.

The problem

The whole porch tipped forward. The top step had split, and two posts had rotted at the base where the gutter emptied onto them for ten years.

What we did

Jacked and leveled the floor, replaced both posts, rebuilt the steps, added a handrail and rerouted the downspout so it never happens again.

She drinks her coffee out there again.

Every project on this page started with a phone call.

Most of them started with a sentence like “It’s probably nothing, but.” It’s rarely nothing. It’s almost never as bad as you think.

Send us a photo of the thing you keep stepping around.

We’ll tell you what it takes.

Or call (555) 014-2290. Ray picks up before seven.
